Bundaleer Logs 66, 67, 68, 69, 70 from Virtual Quilter

Looks like the square in the centre is doing a somersault!

I love the design above, but if I ever make it I would fill in the corners a little bit.

The third design for today made me think of the pair of pipelines which pass not too far from the Bundaleer Reservoir which shares a name with the forest I was thinking of when I named this project file.

I was having fun when I was playing with the designs in this project file, and the design above is the result of one of the most enjoyable moments.

Love the first Log cabin design this mid week!

I think I should go through this project files and draft pieced blocks based on some of these designs … I think it just might work very well with at least some of them.

Another interesting design.

I am thinking that all these designs are interesting, and they could all be done with half square triangles replacing the quilt designs, though I would use some bigger triangles whenever possible.

It will be interesting seeing how they come together as quilt designs. I admit to being totally addicted to drawing both new pieced ...

Bundaleer Logs 51, 52, 53, 54, 55 from Virtual Quilter

Time for another mid week five minute Log Cabin retreat … and I like the first design.

The second design is interesting.

The one above is a large Log Cabin representation of a four patch 16 x 16 block.

I like the one above too, but no chance of me making a 12 inch block version of this one!

Love the last one, though i am thinking that it could be a spider doing a waltz … or there was something extra in my coffee this morning!

More Log Cabin designs mid week next week.

Nice!

Four blocks changed, and I like the results.

Bigger change, bigger results.

Four blocks changed again, but this time I prefer the version before the change.

Like the lighter centre … would look good in all the designs.

That’s is all for this week’s mid week mini retreat from whatever is happening around the world.

Bundaleer Logs 41, 42, 43, 44, 45 from Virtual Quilter

This week’s designs start with this one, and then four slight changes follow. It is so easy to change a design by turning blocks around or swapping for a different colouring of the blocks.

The arms are now firmly attached to the sides …

… the four corner blocks have been recoloured …

… corners have been filled in …

… and the centre four blocks have done a spin!

Simple changes, but an interesting sequence of results.

Middle of the week, time to have a look at some Log Cabin quilt designs.

I like the second one.

I like the third one too.

Like this one more.

Love the last one for this week!

Bundaleer Logs 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 plus Challenge from Virtual Quilter

How many ways can you arrange a collection of Log Cabin blocks with some traditional half light, half dark, some all dark, some all light?

As you can see by the numbers in the title, today’s selection from this project file the number will reach 35variations, which is about half way through the designs I have saved so far.

The Challenge part of the title today is usually reserved for a weekend, but I have been away and will be busy for the first two weekends of this month.

So this months your challenge is to play with Log ...

All these designs use three different colourings of the Log Cabin block … all dark, all light, and the traditional half light, half dark.

In both of the first two designs the outer row of blocks could be left off to make a smaller quilt. The size of the quilt would depend on the size of the blocks.

The one above sills out into the outer row of blocks, but would still work as a smaller quilt but without the points.

Those points which would be leftover from the third design could be included in the design above.

Perhaps the star ...

Bundaleer Logs 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 from Virtual Quilter

Mid week again … I am sure the weeks are getting shorter, but I like having a look at Log Cabin quilt designs on a regular basis, so I can live with that!

I love the first of today’s designs.

All four of the others could be made smaller by removing the outer row of blocks, though I think I would put a small light border before the two coloured borders.

I like the one above!

Interesting. I can see changes I should test … which happens most days, so I will never run out of designs to share!

That is ...

Bundaleer Logs 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 from Virtual Quilter

I am trying to get back into routine, though any routine we have tried to live with has always been flexible, sometimes by choice, often by circumstances, or weather, or a wide choice of other options. Sharing a quilt design each day is pretty much normal, but even this gets out of whack sometimes.

Today I am restarting the mid week retreat, when I share two, usually five, designs using Log Cabin blocks in all their many variations. Today’s designs are from a newish project file, but with just the traditional half light, half dark Log Cabin block, with ...

Bundaleer Logs 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 from Virtual Quilter

All the designs in this project file use the basic Log Cabin block with just three variations in the placement of colour.

I think many of them would be great on a table rather than a bed.

I am thinking that many of them would look great with the colours reversed.

I have some dressmaking fabric which I hope to turn into clothing so it is not taking up space in my sewing room, but I may digress from time to time today and play with the designs in this file. Going outside after breakfast is not going to be ...
